The Glynn County Georgia Police Department honored its newest dual-purpose officer with a viral swearing-in ceremony. Ghost is a lovely K9. Officer Garza, the new member of the law enforcement department, has been undergoing months of training with his human partner.

Highland Canine Training, LLC in Harmony, North Carolina, has been working hard. The Belgian Malinois puppy had to kneel before the Chief of Police Battiste and recite a vow to him. “Officer Ghost, repeat after me,” Chief Battiste says to the K9 Officer, “I, Ghost, solemnly swear or affirm that I will protect the Constitution of the United States.”

No one knows if Ghost was listening or not at this point. He began to smell the document, sensing that this was it and that he needed to take it seriously. Where, on the other hand, are the treats? The puppy advances and grabs the chief’s badge. It was already dangling around his neck. But, like any overly eager puppy, Ghost eventually climbs all over him. K9 Ghost even rolled over on his back, anticipating someone to stroke his tummy. He’s a wonderful boy!

“We expect big things from you, Ghost,” the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook. “We expect amazing things from you, Ghost, including vanishing into thin air on command.” Battiste was delighted by the puppy’s antics, but he didn’t seem to mind. He tried his hardest not to chuckle because he had to proceed with the oath-taking ceremony.

Battiste requested K9 Ghost to bark once more to confirm that he understood the oath and everything that had just happened. Ghost, on the other hand, did not bark. Ghost would rather follow after the chief’s hand, being goofy and teasing him. Let’s only hope that when he is ultimately called to duty, he goes into work mode.

Ghost is brimming with vitality. He has boundless energy, giving him the appearance of being young and foolish. But he did go through a lot of training, so all of that effort is probably just waiting to be released. Give him all of your confidence, nevertheless. It’s a difficult job in an even more difficult environment, but Ghost is up to the task. As long as he receives belly rubs and treats, he’ll be happy.

Officer Ghost, K9, we congratulate you! We’re all looking forward to seeing you patrol the streets and, when necessary, instill some terror and discipline.
