Many pet owners mistakenly believe that purchasing a crate and kennel will be sufficient to keep their pets secure and contained. Sadly, this isn’t always the case; sometimes, dogs treat being crated as a game or something they must escape from at all means. The smart ones will figure out how to take advantage of the kennel’s flaws and escape from them.

Meet Ty the dog and Dilly, his closest canine companion. The two are the property of Colorado-based Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital veterinarian Patrick Kalanzi. The vet occasionally asks them to join him at work. If anytime they need to be temporarily restrained, he can put them in a crate.

But Ty can’t be imprisoned for very long with just a container. The smart boy understands how to escape the kennel if he decides he wants to. It turns out that Ty is an expert at “picking” locks and knows how to accomplish it. He can release himself and Dilly from the crate by using his tongue to open the gate. Ty and Dilly are instantly set free.
Kalanzi simply finds it amusing and is unable to criticize Ty. He quickly mastered using the kennel door. He’s a licky pit bull after all,” Kalanzi told The Dodo. He is a skilled escape artist. Ty cannot be stopped; all you can do is try to keep him under control. What a clever canine!
