This puppy named C.C. may have assumed the ball they brought along was all hers when out on the lake with her family lately.
The pup, however, received an unexpected wake-up call from an unlikely rival.
C.C. was playing fetch in the water when she took a little too long to grab her toy after one toss. Someone else took advantage of the opportunity to claim it as their own during that time.
It had been a fish. He’d managed to catch it in his mouth.
“It was a shock to witness,” C.C.’s owner, Madeline Hyde, told The Dodo. “It took a second for everyone to realize the fish had caught the ball. It was a humorous sight!”
C.C., understandably, was taken aback:
Fortunately for C.C. — and the fish who’d taken on too much — the ball didn’t stay in his grasp for long. Hyde’s father was able to save the toy, as well as the fish.
“Thank goodness the fish survived!” said Hyde. “It took a minute for us to get the ball out, and it was probably a little stunned at first, but it swam away swiftly.”
