A passing car noticed a shivering stray dog snuggled up on a snowy roadside in Ontario, Canada, on a freezing chilly evening. However, as the driver came to a halt and examined the dog more closely, he saw that she wasn’t alone.
The sweet puppy has encircled five orphaned kittens in her arms. She was keeping them warm in the cold by acting like their mother. Even though the canine might have found a safer place to spend the night, the infants were her top priority.
The wonderful driver whisked them away to the Pet and Wildlife Rescue facility, where they were checked out. “It’s truly heartwarming!” a spokesman for the shelter told The Dodo. “It had been a bitterly cold evening, and these kittens would have struggled to survive.”
The kittens are healthy and safe, but they need to be treated for flea and worm infections. Meanwhile, the caramel stray canine is being well-cared for at the shelter and insists on frequent visits to monitor the kitten’s progress.
Although the origins of the six animals are yet unknown, Pet and Wildlife Rescue is hopeful that an owner will come forward. If no one claims them, they will be adopted among the other pets at the shelter. “Our personnel faces many challenging conditions every day,” the shelter told The Dodo, “and stories like this one make every suffering worth it.”
