A rescued dog in an animal shelter pulled out all the stops in what feels like a scene from the animated children’s film “The Secret Life of Pets,” seemingly trying to avoid being put down by surprising his sympathetic keepers with a special skill.
A volunteer at an animal shelter in Phoenix, Arizona named Jose Miguel Santiago was the one who initially shared the clip on his own Facebook page with the accompanying statement, “A lot of our dogs would do practically anything to get adopted…even TALK! Embrace!”
Before making his social media appearance, the talkative dog, named Drew, had already spent three months in the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control institution. It’s unclear if the 8-year-old mixed-breed dog has ever spoken to a person before or if he is capable of saying anything else.
Drew has a lovely disposition and a heart full of love that he’s eager to give to the appropriate owner for a simple $21 cost, volunteer helpers like Jose promised viewers and potential adopters. This underpaid dog needs a boss, don’t you think? In just a few short days after Mr. Santiago’s article went viral, Drew was adopted into a warm and welcoming family. This weekend, Drew, the talking dog, met his new family and greeted them with “hello.” read the tweet from the shelter.
Although it is common knowledge that dogs interact with their owners, it is quite unusual for them to mimic human speech. Drew has been on the adoption waiting list at the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control in Arizona since March, but they have only recently learned of his hidden gift.
