Rescued Dog Enjoys Taking Care Of Foster Kittens And Carry Them Around The House

Posted on September 24, 2022September 24, 2022 by CuteDog

Raylan, a rescue dog, has been working very hard for the past seven years. The joyful shepherd mix fosters lots of kittens, caring for each one as if it were his child. Being busy has always come naturally to Raylan, and caring for the kittens provides the aging canine the purpose he seeks. As Laura Tindal, Raylan’s mother, explained to The Dodo, “Raylan is always so pleased and so eager when a new foster arrives, and he spends so much time watching them, cleaning them, and winning them over.” They interact, snuggle, and make each other laugh, which is crucial for Raylan’s mental stimulation.

She continued, “He’s not the kind of dog to just lay on his bed peacefully for hours. “He needs something to do since he gets bored easily.” Ron and Hermione, a brother and sister kitten pair, were just adopted by Tindal. The kittens were discovered underweight and dehydrated in a garage. They missed their mother, Ron in particular. Raylan volunteered to help at that point. Raylan and Ron fell in love right away, while Tindal concentrated on keeping the kittens healthy.

Both kittens like Raylan, but Ron was particularly enamored with him, according to Tindal. “He instantly wanted to be climbing on him, touching him, and getting as near to him as possible.” When Raylan scoops Ron up and carries him around in his mouth, he especially enjoys it. Ron seems to find comfort in the straightforward gesture, and Raylan is ready to comply. “Raylan frequently carries our foster kittens about in his mouth as a mother dog would, and Ron not only is the ideal size, he also genuinely enjoys it!” said Tindal. It’s impossible to get any closer than within his mouth. Raylan is always carrying Ron.

Ron would approach Raylan, stand beneath his head, meow, and look up at him while circling back and forth when he wants to be taken up, she continued. To be picked up, Raylan will practically brush up against his mouth if he is lying down. After that, Raylan normally takes him to his bed or couch to begin cleaning him, or they just cuddle together for a nap. It’s so cute. Raylan is aware of what it’s like to have a difficult beginning in life. When he was just 2 years old, his former family abandoned him at a shelter in Northern Ontario. He hadn’t had the care or attention he need as a curious, active dog, but he picked things up quickly.

Several hours before he was scheduled to be put down, “he was snatched out of that shelter,” Tindal added. He arrived at my home with no prior training; he had no idea how to sit, couldn’t walk on a leash, and didn’t respond to his name. Despite this, he was incredibly intelligent, engaging, and ready to learn. Raylan and his mother are now on a mission to provide the care that homeless kittens so sorely need. Ron and Hermione have developed quickly and recently got a home together thanks to their love. Ron will always hold a particular place in the large dog’s heart, but he is eager to meet the upcoming litter of unique little kittens.
