Pit bulls are sometimes overlooked at shelters due to their breed. Pit bulls, on the other hand, may make wonderful family pets, as Ember demonstrates.
Ember, a female pit bull mix, was discovered alone on the street and saved by Ohio’s first pit bull rescue, Adore-A-Bull Rescue. Ember was adopted by the Daniels family shortly after their beloved Derby, a pit bull, died. Tre, Ember’s 10-year-old human brother, and new best friend would be saved as a token of her appreciation.
Tre and Ember clicked right away, and their closeness saved his life. “We were asleep and she just plopped down next to the bed and she was doing this real low grumble,” Tre’s mother, Tracy, told Local 12. It wasn’t really a growl, just some strange mumble.”
Tracy jumped out of bed, thinking Ember might need to go outdoors. “Our pittie Ember came into our room early this morning and woke us up, which is unusual for her so early in the morning. “As I got up to let her out, she dashed into the kids’ bathroom, where I discovered Tre having a full seizure in the bathtub,” she wrote.
Tre was sent to the hospital right away. “Everything appears to be normal, and we are resting at home,” Tracy wrote. Ember is credited with saving Tre’s life, and the Daniels family wants to teach others that pit bulls are wonderful pets. The family also expressed gratitude to the rescue team for saving Ember and allowing them to meet her.
Every night, Ember stays by Tre’s side and sleeps at the foot of his bed. Don’t judge a dog solely based on its breed. Thousands of pit bulls are waiting for their forever homes in shelters all around the country. Visit your local shelter to discover how wonderful pit bulls can be. Adopt instead of shopping!
