This is the heartwarming scene that unfolds when a puppy with paralysis makes a run for the front door to greet her soldier father after he has been away for six months. Emma is a pit bull mix with a small body but a big personality. Even though she was born with a birth condition that causes her hind legs to be paralyzed, she doesn’t allow anything to prevent her from giving affection.

In the video, she is seen making a valiant effort to beat her dad to the door as he returns from his tour of duty in the military, and she then proceeds to give him a bear hug. It would appear that Emma “sits at the end of the hallway and waits” whenever someone enters the house through the front door; nevertheless, she makes an extra effort to greet the visitor this time.

Although she is not as quick as her brothers who have four legs, she demonstrates that she is as thrilled as any of them to see their dad again.
“My husband has been absent for the past half a year. “Just before he departed, we adopted a special needs puppy with a terrible birth defect,” said Emma’s human, Melissa Proctor Swanson. “We are long-term foster parents for SNARR, which is an animal rescue organization for animals with special needs.”

“Emma and her papa had a really special relationship! When he went, it tore a hole in her heart. She will typically be waiting for me to pick her up at the end of the hallway at the point where the door into the house opens. This time, however, when her father entered the room, she went straight to him!

“No other dog can compare to the ferocity of her spirit. Her doggedness in pursuing her goals is an example to follow. Emma has had both of her rear legs removed in the time since the video was shot to make it easier for her to move about and get around.
