Maya is a young rescue dog that has been around for a little over a year. The only problem is that she has no idea she is a dog! She appears to believe she is a four-legged person, and she frequently teaches herself new human skills. This includes activities such as watching television, opening doors and even harboring grudges.

Eleni Alafouzos, her mother, isn’t sure why her sweet dog acts the way she does, but she has lovingly accepted it over time. Maya is simply displaying her actual personality. After all, each dog is distinct in its way!
Maya and her brother were abandoned on the side of the road when they were puppies. Alafouzos fell in love with Maya right away and adopted her from Takis Shelter, bringing her home with her. It’s difficult to believe someone would abandon such a special puppy.

Maya appeared to be your typical puppy at first. She is, however, highly intelligent, and she rapidly picked up on her humans’ actions. She observed and learned from their actions, and before long, she believed she was a person as well!
Maya seems to have mastered her first human skill: unlocking a door. She soon learned to open doors without reluctance after a lot of practice. Different types of doorknobs occasionally perplex her, but she can open most of the doors in the house. She is, however, still attempting to figure out what is and isn’t a door. She occasionally misidentifies the window as the patio door and becomes frustrated when she is unable to open it.

“She thinks she’s a human, therefore she duplicates everything we do,” Alafouzos explained.
Maya even sleeps in a human-like manner. Her body must be covered by a blanket, and her head must rest on a cushion. She doesn’t want to sleep any other way.
Maya appears to have more human characteristics the more time Alafouzos spends with her beautiful puppy. She’s even been watching TV lately. When anything interesting is on, you can see how her eyes stare at the screen. Maya loses interest as Alafouzos pauses the show. She also seemed to be uninterested in the news channel.

The feelings of this rescue dog are likewise incredibly human-like. If you offend her, she will harbor a grudge against you. She’ll give you filthy glances and even refuse any apology sweets, even if they’re her favorite. Her level of self-control is nearly alarming. She’s probably better than most people at harboring grudges.
“She’s an extremely emotional person.” She will become enraged if you laugh at her. “She’ll harbor a grudge against you and stare you down,” Alafouzos claimed. “It affects you.” To make amends, I’ll have to go with sweets.”

Maya can’t deny that she loves her family at the end of the day. She knows how to apologize when she has overreacted, just like any good person. She also understands how to follow up with the nicest hugs. She may not be a perfect human just yet, but she will continue to grow and learn every day.
