This adorable dog’s name is Miss Lou Lou Gehrig, and her nickname is Lou. She is employed by the Greensboro Grasshoppers, a Minor League Baseball team in North Carolina, where she is responsible for collecting baseball bats, and it is obvious that she enjoys the work that she does.
That is if you will grant her permission to do so. In a normal situation, a hitter will only drop their bat once they have successfully hit the ball, at which point Miss Lou Lou Gehrig will dash in to get it. That is something that she does, and she is good at it. On the other hand, just recently, one of her teammates had to go and completely throw things off.
During a game this week, Grasshopper Jhonny Santos was up to bat when, for some reason, he opted to drop the bat at his feet after a pitch. Even though the bat had only been lying there for a fraction of a second before Santos picked it up again, Miss Lou Lou Gehrig was already on her way to pick it up.
Because Santos had completely turned the script, the diligent bat-dog was left in a state of bewilderment. This is the moment captured on video: It is not hard to figure out who was to blame for this. Although we wouldn’t necessarily call for Santos to be suspended for pulling one over on this obedient canine, we do think that a hefty fine (paid in dog treats) would be acceptable in this situation.
In a nutshell, even though it might have appeared as though Miss Lou Lou Gehrig was attempting to steal the bat, all she was doing was her job. However, there is no question in anyone’s mind that she succeeded in gaining everyone’s affection.
