According to the Associated Press, the workers of an oil rig in Thailand spotted something in the ocean while they were approximately 135 miles away from the Thai mainland.

The crew from Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production was shocked to realize that it was, of all things, a dog swimming along. They had to take a closer look to confirm their suspicions. According to Vitisak Payalaw, who was operating on the rig at the time, the dog swam up to their ship without howling, whining, or really even making a single sound of any kind. What a brave boy!

The animal was pulled onto the ship by the crew with the use of a rope. According to the Associated Press, those who discovered him in the turbulent waters initially hypothesized that he had fallen off of a fishing boat before their discovery. The staff decided that the best name for the puppy would be “Survivor.”

Payalaw published the story of the rescue along with some touching images on their Facebook page. It is unknown how the dog got so far away from the land, and it is also unknown who the dog belongs to. According to the Associated Press, on Monday he was brought back to dry land after being transported.

A veterinarian looked at the dog and determined that it was in good health after the examination. After that, it was given to the Watchdog Thailand organization. Payalaw promised on Facebook to adopt this Sweet Boy if the owner didn’t come forward. What a truly wonderful turn of fate.
