Spencer and Rocky were best friends for ten years. Simply put, they valued one other’s presence. In an interview with The Dodo, its owner Beth Fisher revealed, “They have never spent a night apart. In addition to sharing a bedroom and a bowl for their shared meals, Rocky and Spencer were also inseparable when they went out. Sadly, their partnership came to an end after a visit to the veterinarian revealed some distressing information.
Rocky, the blonde dog, had grown a huge cancerous tissue inside of him. The unfortunate finding was discovered too late, leaving just one course of action. That day, Rocky had to be put down, Fisher said. Although it was difficult to comprehend Rocky’s unexpected passing, we can’t begin to fathom how difficult it must be for Spencer to have lost his young brother. Spencer looked devastated.
Spencer has been waking up in the middle of the night to look for his brother since Rocky went away, according to Fisher. When he can’t find him, “and then he starts crying.” Spencer had Rocky’s ashes scattered near where they used to sleep, but it was clear that she needed more time to deal with her loss. Fisher then gave Spencer a pillow with Rocky’s face on it.
Spencer was quickly calmed by the present. In addition, it was good to have a cushion that both paid tribute to Rocky and helped his companion fill the emptiness left by his passing. Since it arrived, Spencer has been snuggling into the pillow and moving it from the sofa to his bed, according to Fisher. He appears to be calmer now that he has something to cuddle onto.
The grieving canine would no longer have to spend the night alone. Although Rocky will never be replaced, it’s good that Spencer gets some solace. Fisher remarked, “I don’t think Spencer will ever get over Rocky’s death, but I hope he’s able to learn to live without him.” We’re hopeful Spencer may find solace in his new pillow and in the embraces he’s receiving from his family, she continued.
