A dog’s devoted heart may very well be the most resilient thing the world has ever known when they are with a kind person. Although it might be difficult to break that heart, when it occurs, it shatters. King has experienced that on numerous occasions. King’s first owner decided he didn’t want him any longer two years ago, and despite being informed that he would probably be put to death within days, he was left at a North Carolina animal shelter.

Fortunately, a rescue team stepped in to save his life, but it was only the start of a whole new set of difficulties. King was going to be fostered by a woman, but her husband dragged him back to the shelter after deciding he was too “scary-looking.” He tied down King to the front gate as it was closed. King’s new foster family was located after the rescue organization was once more informed. But once the family discovered a breed ban where they lived, he was homeless once more two days later.

This time, King was placed in a boarding house for around two months while a longer-term foster home was sought out. Roberta Sá Griner, a dog rescuer, intervened at that point. Griner told The Dodo, “I started fostering him, and he was incredibly good. “He lived with me for almost three months before being adopted by a woman. King was with her for just over a year. Then she suddenly got in touch with me and said she wanted to return King.” After being returned to foster care, King was visibly distressed, but Griner was eventually able to find him a new family.

They abandoned him too a few months later, claiming they could no longer afford him. King’s heart was destroyed when he found himself back with Griner this week. He is a fantastic dog, but being abandoned so frequently is getting to him, she said. “Just now, he’s very insecure. He merely sobs. This blanket has grown quite close to him and has become his security blanket. He simply sits there sobbing into the blanket.”

Griner claims that King is a truly lovely dog, which is what makes his position so perplexing. He doesn’t have any behavioral problems outside his nervousness. She is still looking for a place where he will always be accepted.
