Large dogs have a nasty stigma, but in reality, they’re usually big sweethearts. Ruby Jane, a loving 5-year-old Bloodhound, demonstrates that anyone can love. This is due to Ruby Jane’s fondness for rescued kittens.
Stephanie Vice is a Lakeland, Florida-based veterinary technician. Vice and her husband, Matthew, frequently take in kittens as fosters. Ruby Jane is always gentle with all of the rescue kittens she meets. A video of her soothing a stray kitten went viral lately.
Ruby Jane has interacted with almost 100 different rescue kittens in her life. She did, however, form a bond with Bodie, a scared 5-week-old cat.
Bodie and his two siblings were brought home by Vice from the SPCA Florida no-kill shelter. Vice will be fostering the kittens until they are old enough to be adopted because they are so little.
“Ruby Jane is a highly playful dog who gets along well with the foster kittens,” Vice stated.
Ruby Jane does her best to care for the kittens she has raised because they do not have a mother. Bodie is one of the numerous kittens she has taken care of over the years. She understands how to treat them with care.
Bodie is shivering while having a bath in the video. Fortunately, Ruby Jane is right there alongside him, soothing him throughout. Ruby Jane is initially just staring at the tiny cat over the sink. She then gently petted him with her huge paw to soothe him. There should be no doubt after watching this video that cats and dogs can be wonderful pals.
Vice narrates what she feels Ruby Jane is trying to express throughout the video. As the enormous dog pets the kitten, she says things like “it’s okay, it’s just a bath.” Surprisingly, Ruby Jane’s efforts appear to cheer Bodie up a little.
In just a few days after Vice posted this film, it had over 8,600,000 views. It’s nearly impossible not to say “aww!” when watching this cute video.
Ruby Jane has grown to love Bodie despite having lived with 107 other kittens over her life. Ruby Jane and Bodie prove that real friendship has no bounds, even though they are two very different creatures. Ruby Jane’s acts, hopefully, will inspire others to share kindness as well.
