It’s no secret that dogs are food aficionados. They’re always eager to go above and above for a good snack. That’s why it’s critical to keep your food out of reach of naughty dogs at all times.
Kara Probin thought she was doing it, but her meals kept disappearing as she turned her back. As a result, she decided to look into the situation. When she caught her timid dog, River, sneaking cupcakes on tape, she was taken aback. The method used by the puppy is brilliant!
Probin is the proud owner of two German Shorthaired Pointers. River, who is three years old, has a younger sister named Winnie, who is the more mischievous of the two. Winnie used to try to steal food from the table when she was younger, so the family assumed Winnie was to blame for the missing food. River, after all, would always beg near the table but never accept anything.
Baking has recently become a new interest for Probin. She enjoyed creating special dog cakes for the puppies in particular. She did notice, however, that at least 15 cupcakes had vanished from the counter since she began baking. They didn’t think much of it because Winnie always appeared to be the guilty one. They decided to discover proof after several failed attempts to keep the food out of reach.
A piece of cake was left in a bowl at the back of the counter in one scenario. Because both German Shorthaired Pointers are smaller than their breed average, Probin assumed they wouldn’t be able to reach it. After only a few minutes, she discovered the bowl was empty but still upright. Probin couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Finally, in the kitchen, Probin installed a hidden camera. She placed three puppy cupcakes on the counter that were leftover from River’s birthday celebration. That’s when the truth was revealed.
The focus of the video was on a tray with uniced cupcakes on it. River walked up to the tray on her hind legs and sniffed the goodies. Then she pawed at the cupcakes incessantly until her toenail finally hit one. She happily drew it to herself and devoured it. She did the same thing with another cupcake as well. Probin had never seen her shy dog act so naughtily before.
River’s secret is now known, making it impossible for her to continue stealing. The puppy is now known as Probin’s “little cake thief.” Probin and her family appear to be keeping a tight eye on River until they can reclaim her trust. Who knows what else River has been keeping from her mother.
