Argentino, the German Shepherd, could not contain his enthusiasm when it came time to greet the newest member of the family. He kept an eye on every step of the process, from setting up the crib to rehearsing telling goodnight tales.

Although there was a lot to do, Argentino was present for every stage of the process. When he was able to do so, he gave the unborn child a soft sniff while it was still inside its mother’s belly. They had every intention of being the best of friends.

Finally, a boy was born into the family, and Argentino adjusted quite quickly to his new role as an older sibling. He sniffed him and then gently kissed him on the cheek. Argentino observed while the diapers were changed, and the stench did not make him particularly happy.

Argentino never left his younger brother’s side under any circumstances. When he was sleeping, he would keep an eye on him by peering over the side of the cot. They would get into each other’s arms and fall asleep on the couch together. Argentino had a lot of love for the infant, but at the same time, he couldn’t wait for him to get older so that they could play together more. The infant soon began gripping and teasing Argentino’s paws and tail.

Argentino did everything in his power to instruct his brother in the game. He demonstrated how to chew the ball by grabbing it with his lips and handing it to the other person. The infant was not yet capable of picking up the ball. It didn’t make a difference how long it took for the child to mature into an adult. Argentino was patient and didn’t mind having to wait. The anticipation of the day when he and his brother could run and play together filled him with joy as he saw his sibling grow taller and stronger.
