People tend to give German shepherds a wide room when they’re out in public because of their fearlessness, bravery, and great loyalty. But when they’re at home, they’re the greatest knuckleheads you’ll ever meet.
Take, for example, the German shepherd in the video below, who gives a sprinkler, of all things, a wide berth. He has no idea what to make of it… Fortunately, he has a small companion who can teach him the ropes.
The giant shepherd is first hesitant about the sprinkler, but his younger sibling knows exactly what to do: He confidently approaches it and places his hand in the flowing water. “See?” he seems to be saying. There’s nothing to be afraid of here. You should give it a shot!”
The pup jumps up, gives him a short lick, and thanks to him for the demonstration, indicating that the boy has done something to gain the dog’s trust.
The German shepherd then goes for it, gulping down a mouthful of water.
When he learns the sprinkler isn’t going to fight him, he exudes confidence and begins a joyful game of ‘attack the water.’
Humans may not realize it, but defending your family from a sprinkler with dubious intents isn’t as simple as it appears. So he takes a break to quench his thirst…
Then he immediately returns to it. He even races to the far end of the lawn’s sidewalk to gain a running start a couple more times:
Summer doesn’t start for another few weeks, but temperatures throughout the country are already climbing. Now that this sprinkler and shepherd have met, they’ll almost certainly be spending a lot of time together in the coming months.
Sprinklers, on the other hand, have a shady way of suddenly starting to revolve… This could put the relationship on hold for a while.
