Those of us who commute by public transportation is aware of how monotonous the journeys may be. I used to always take the tram into the city center for work until I started working from home. I frequently used the bus while I worked at a location a little bit farther from the city center. It started to feel quite monotonous every day, and I began to notice that the same commuters boarded the same bus every morning. Many people who use public transportation to move around their city find that the trips start to blend. Nothing stands out. One man in the UK frequently began and ended his workday with train rides into and out of the city.

However, there was one day in particular when things took an unexpected turn involving his dog. Thomas McCormick was accustomed to taking the train to work. But he was unaware that one day his dog Paddy would decide to accompany him. McCormick had just boarded the train after leaving for work. When he had the shock of his life, he had just settled into his seat and was getting ready for his commute. When he turned around, Paddy, his dog, was settling into the seat next to him. The cute little dog was acting like nothing unusual was happening and was fully at ease. McCormick was naturally taken aback because it’s not every day that your dog travels with you on the train to work. However, what was even more amazing was how Paddy was able to escape.

McCormick had left his dog at home, safely tucked away in the backyard, or so he believed. McCormick wanted to figure out how the dog got on the train with him when he returned Paddy to his house. It turned out that the neighbor had seen everything. Little Paddy proved to be quite the Houdini, planning his daring escape on the backyard trampoline. The puppy leaped onto the trampoline and continued to leap until he could clear the rear gate. He then followed his owner’s smell using his keen nose. The rest is history, of course, as he was directed by this directly to the railway station.
