While welcoming a new baby into the family can be joyful, there is also a lot of additional stress involved. Every time the baby screams, the parents (or, at least, the mother) jump into action and try to soothe the child. While we typically consider parents and other people as the receptive ones, pets may also pick up on a baby’s cries and can get quite worried. Some dogs can even go so far as to appear to be crying in sympathy with the little child.

When his new baby sibling started wailing on the couch, one dog decided to show him exactly that. The huge dog was quite nervous and even started crying too rather than just ignoring the little newborn. In the video, you can see the dog, who is visibly worried and hesitant as it sits on the couch near the wailing child. He waits a brief moment before joining the infant in crying.

It seems that this adorable dog isn’t the only one who gets emotional when they hear a baby crying. WagWalking claims that dogs are able to sense energy, even that of young children, surrounding them. “The energy of a wailing infant leads the dog to feel sad,” they claimed. When a baby is crying, the dog may start crying too!

Even while it appears that the dog is expressing sympathy, it may just be that the noise is unfamiliar to it or that the pitch irritates the dog’s ears. It resembles the frequent cries dogs make in response to sirens. What’s important is that the dog is playing a part in the household and is showing interest in the newborn baby.
