A neighbor’s actions helped a Golden Retriever named Zai Zai survive after being isolated for several days. The dog was allegedly left in his home with no food or water as his owners were stuck with the coronavirus situation. The neighbor, with the last name Xu, who resides in a close flat in Guangzhou, claims that the dog first showed up in the window frame and was staring at her.

It wasn’t until three days later, when she saw the same dog in the same place, appearing hungry and sick, that she realized there was a problem. Xu noticed the dog was by itself right away, possibly because the coronavirus had trapped its owners somewhere. The following day, Xu started feeding the dog, using an unusual method to have the food sent to his house. She served Zai Zai through the window bars by hanging meat and drink bottles on a laundry pole.

While trying to find the owners of the dog, the neighbor performed the action 6 days in a row. Eventually, it was found that the dog’s owners were detained in Wuhan and unable to travel due to the town’s isolation. Fortunately, the dog’s family informed the building management and gave them permission to enter the apartment and save the dog. Zai Zai was fine, however, it’s unknown why the dog’s owner didn’t do this sooner.

Zai Zai is now living in a nearby animal shelter where he is getting the care and food he needs to get better. Not forgetting his companion, Xu frequently stops by the shelter to say hello and let him know everything is good. The neighbor recorded her kind act on camera and shared it on social media platforms, where she got kudos for her actions. The dog will undoubtedly be grateful to Xu forever for helping him to survive and so saving his life.
