The heartwarming scene of a stray mother dog jumping into a raging river to save her puppy stuck in China’s terrible floods has been captured on viral video. According to reports, the dog and its 5 puppies were initially left abandoned as the floods swept away their temporary home. As the water kept rising, a local neighbor was only able to save the mother dog and four of the puppies.
The courageous mother dog is shown running back into the flooded river to retrieve the puppy as soon as she notices the other puppy is missing. Millions of users were captivated by the viral video, which they described as demonstrating “the incredible power of a mother’s love.” After the shelter was submerged by intense rain, the stray dog and its 5 puppies were left trapped in the middle of the overflowing Min River. After seeing the animal family attempting to land, locals gathered and dialed the authorities.
One of the witnesses was able to save the mother dog and her four puppies by swimming through the floodwaters. A policeman then intervened to prevent him from saving the last pup because he believed it would be too risky for him to return to the water. The stray dog resisted the police officer’s attempts to restrain it by running and leaping into the floodwaters in an apparent attempt to save its young.
The clip shows the dog swimming to the puppy trapped between nearby trees and carrying it out with its mouth. As they witness the couple safely landing back on the ground, locals can be heard clapping and cheering.
