Some people choose to adopt a dog for the companionship, love, and friendship they can offer. Others are more interested in a working dog that may assist them in finishing a task or provide security for their family. A dog by the name of Morocho took his responsibility as a guardian so seriously that he didn’t think twice before acting to repel a terrifying puma. As his sister and her friend collected figs from a tree on the family farm, the wildcat chased them.
The Martines family and a handful of their friends began the afternoon by spending some quality time together on their farm. After spending some time socializing with one another, their daughter Sophie and her friend Yoli decided to cross the farm to the fig trees. Yoli’s favorite fruit is the fig, and she was aware of where to find them. Fortunately, the two didn’t leave together. The family’s Dogo Argentino, Morocho, traveled with them on their journey.
The girls were experienced foragers and knew where to go for the best figs because they had previously done so. So, without thinking twice, Yoli began to climb in search of the best fruits. They heard noises coming from up in the branches, though, as she ascended. As it turned out, Yoli wasn’t the only person who had decided to climb that specific tree. A puma had noticed Sophie and Yoli and was poised on the taller trees. One of the biggest predators in South America, the puma had the potential to seriously harm or perhaps kill both girls.
Fear overcame Yoli as she attempted to descend the branches, causing her to stumble. She stumbled and hit the ground on her back. She didn’t stay there for very long, though, and the two girls as quickly as they could return to their families. They shouted and rushed back to the center of the property with a puma chasing after them. Morocho didn’t think twice to attack and made every effort to keep his family members safe.
Yoli’s father hurried as quickly as he could in the direction of the girls’ screams, thinking the disturbance was related to a snake. He discovered Morocho on the ground, suffering from severe wounds. Thank goodness he was still with us. The puma, however, didn’t do as well. The creature’s lifeless body was close.
The Dogo Argentino, also known as the Argentinian Mastiff or the Argentine Dogo, is a breed that was created in Argentina largely to display the bravery, strength, and power needed for big-game hunting. They are generally recognized for being kind protectors who are “lovey-dovey” with their family despite being big, strong, and athletic. Thank heavens Morocho, who is quite strong and protective, was at the girls’ sides.
