Some of the world’s brightest canine breeds include Border Collies. This is seen in the ease with which they pick up challenging tricks. They are great dogs. One border collie in particular was exceptionally intelligent. Border collie Sue and her owner, Kelly Dobbe, reside in The Netherlands. They share a home on a street with lots of pedestrian activity. Sue sees all of these passing individuals as potential playmates. She had to figure out a means to let people know she wanted them to throw her soccer ball, though.
Sue wanted someone to stop and be a friend, but most people just walked by her. At that point, the smart dog found an amazing method of attracting onlookers to play with her. It had a hint of deceit, but because it was Sue, it was adorable. Sue would get her soccer ball and raise it on her back legs when no one was watching so she could throw it over the fence and into the street. She would then wait for a passerby to throw it back over the fence for her.
Naturally, a lot of strangers fell victim to her smart trap. Who could blame them, though? We would all be caught by a dog who needed its ball thrown over the fence. Sue kept up this habit. When someone returned her ball, she would wait until they were out of sight before throwing it back to the other side of the fence, setting up her scam for the following person. But occasionally she would strike it fortunate and someone would be prepared to continue throwing the ball a few more times before eventually moving on.
It didn’t matter if individuals recognized they were being fooled or not. It was lovely that everyone was willing to help Sue and return her ball as a good deed. There was even one case where Sue’s ball was returned by the cops. Sue also insisted on playing a game of fetch regardless of the weather. The wonderful thing was that everyone in her town was eager to help her, no matter what the weather was.
Kelly eventually discovered what her cunning dog was up to and was able to record a variety of video clips, which she then assembled into a montage of her dog’s antics. They quickly became popular on social media as one might expect given how many people were astounded by Sue’s wit.
