Santeri Frilander’s black Labrador Retriever, Blaze, has been with him since he was a puppy. Like any other black Lab, he was born with a stunning black coat. Frilander, on the other hand, began to notice something peculiar as Blaze grew older. For a year, his adorable puppy began to change colors!
It was an unusual situation, but it only served to make Blaze more charming and cute in the end. Blaze has no idea he’s different from other dogs, but he’s become a social media sensation as a result.
Blaze is ten years old and presently resides in Finland with his father. Frilander began to observe changes in Blaze’s looks when he was about nine years old. Until that time, he wore a solid black coat. His father, on the other hand, noticed a little white patch on Blaze’s ear. At first, he simply figured it was due to his age.
It’s natural for dogs to develop gray hairs as they become older, but this was unusual. More white patches formed as Blaze grew older. They continued to develop all over his body until he no longer resembled a black Lab. He was more of a “cookies and cream” color than anything else.
Blaze’s top part of his body is now more white than black. Frilander believes Blaze’s colors will continue to alter as he grows older. Frilander wasn’t sure what was causing Blaze’s color shifts at first. He discovered that all of the other puppies in the litter had full black coats. As a result, Blaze was genuinely unique.
Blaze suffers from vitiligo, a skin disorder that causes him to lose his color. Humans are more likely to contract it, although dogs can also contract it. Blaze is otherwise quite healthy, as it just affects his appearance.
“Blaze is a fit and active young man. He’ll always be there for you, no matter where you go. “He even enjoys traveling in a car,” Frilander said. “Blaze enjoys walking through the woods and swimming in the lake.”
Blaze is, in fact, in excellent health for a Lab his age. He enjoys going on walks in different places and exploring new places. His father is a big fan of the dog’s adventurous nature. Blaze is jokingly referred to as “the old man,” yet he feels more alive than he has in a long time. Vitiligo hasn’t slowed him down in the least.
Blaze’s fame is the only aspect of his life that has been damaged by his illness. Because of his distinctive appearance, he has a slew of devoted fans. So, if anything, all the love and support he’s been receiving has made him happier. You can follow Blaze on Instagram to see more adorable photos.
