Benji had a lot of anxiety when he was a young Lab puppy. Russel Teck, his father, felt horrible for his sad dog and wanted to find whatever he could do to heal him.
Teck considered agility at first, but it didn’t appear to be Benji’s thing. He also didn’t have enough room in his backyard for an agility course. So, after doing some more research, Teck discovered the ideal employment for his worried dog: a therapy dog!
Benji underwent a year and a half of therapy dog training, and it all paid off in the end. He passed his Therapy Dogs International test on the first try in 2014! Benji was prepared to make a positive impact on the world.
Teck came up with the idea of making business cards for his adorable puppy once Benji was certified. He designs the cards on the computer before printing them for Benji.
“My name is Benji,” it says on the front of the card, with a photo of Benji on the front. “I hope my visit has made your day a little brighter.” Benji’s birthday and the names of his two Pug brothers, Kevin and Kobi, are listed on the back of the card.
Benji gives people his business card when he visits to cheer them up. Many people are familiar with him and are always eager to see him. Many of the people Benji has met have kept his business card. People frequently tell Teck that they keep his business card on their refrigerator or in their wallets because it constantly makes them smile.
Benji enjoys cheering up people who are down on their luck. He’s been to nursing homes, hospitals, high schools, and funeral homes, among other places. His visits always bring a smile to people’s faces. Benji has already visited over 1,000 locations and intends to assist many more individuals in the future.
Teck and Benji are happy about all of the good feedback they’ve gotten. He does admit, though, that while there is a lot of delight in what Benji does, there are also a lot of difficulties. Hearing people’s tales and feeling their anguish is a big part of cheering them up.
Teck goes with Benji to all of his appointments. Not only has this job improved Benji’s life, but Teck believes it has also served his purpose. He adores Benji’s ability to lift others’ spirits, and he is honored to be regarded as “Benji’s father.”
