Domestic gods and goddesses are usually given to people, but in this adorable video, a loving German Shepherd gives us all a run for our money by helping to keep his home in order. Baron, a two-year-old German Shepherd, may appear to be an ordinary dog, but unlike his friends, who spend the majority of their time working as security dogs, Baron is focused on building a broader range of talents that will keep him employable well into retirement.

Linda Riley, Baron’s owner, adds, “I started teaching Baron the day we got him.” “Baron is a brilliant man who picks up on things quickly. Overall, German Shepherds are eager to please and eager to learn.” Baron does a range of home tasks when he’s not keeping an eye on Riley and her four-year-old kid Alexander.

Riley says, “He can help load the dishwasher, and wipe the windows, he likes dusting, sweeping the floor, and mopping.” It’s a long list, but surely it comes to an end there? Wrong! “He can unload and load the dryer and washer, he can remember to place the toilet seat behind Alexander, and he can also turn the light switches on and off.”

Baron has been with Lisa and Alexander since he was 12 weeks old, and Riley was able to work with him right away because she is a dog trainer. While watching him do all of his household chores is endearing, it is possibly his relationship with Alexander that is the most touching.
“Alexander and Baron share a special bond; they are linked at the hip.” Baron is a bit like a protective father. When we’re out in public and there are just the three of us, Baron will be on Alexander’s outside, forcing him into me. When we’re out, his eyes are always on Alexander; he doesn’t look away; he’s the only one who matters.”

Alexander returns the Baron’s affection tenfold, calling the devoted German Shepherd his best buddy. Riley claims that the protecting pooch will always be a significant and crucial part of their family, regardless of his domestic god-like talents. “If he had to, I do not doubt that dog would offer his life for us.”
What about the Baron himself? He’s surely earned a good night’s sleep, so we hope he has one of the best dog beds to fall into after a long day’s labor!
